Minimalist Chess Set

The board and pieces have embedded neodymium magnets which are press fit into place after printing. The magnets keep the pieces attached to the board and perfectly aligned in the center of each square. Up to 9 rubber feet can be added to indents in the bottom of the board to improve grip and create a gap that makes it easier to pick up.

Pieces were designed with an emphasis on minimalism. Piece types are differentiated by height and by the simple radially symmetrical patterns at their tops. The king has a 6 pointed crown, the queen has a 5 pointed crown, the rook has a tower with 4 turrets, the knight has a 3 part saddle, the bishop has a 2 part mitre, and the pawn's top is all 1 part.

White PLA filament containing black PETG specs was used to create the appearance of marble.

An additional benefit of the magnetic chess board is that it sticks to metal surfaces such as a refrigerator.
